These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

I've been on the search for a tall flat boot practically since I came to be. The day after I started walking was when I started looking for that boot. Needless to say, it's been a long, tough road. This year, I am determined to find that perfect pair.
I like the distressing on these Vintage Tall Roadster Boots from J. Crew, but I wish it had a couple more buckles to make things interesting.
The Thebna Boot from Nine West has the details I desire, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the color.

I absolutely LOVE this boot from Chloe. Refined gold buckle, great leather, cool heel, but $1,100?! I'd prefer to stay married, thankyouverymuch.

Another classic boot, this time the Isabelline Riding Boot by Ralph Lauren, but it's a bit too classic for my taste. Oh, and it's close to $1000, too. Let's see... Boots or food for two months?

These Jenny Boots from Piperlime are a close competitor. I like the style and the buckles and the color, but I wish they were more distressed.

I think I found a winner! They Cranberry Bog Boots from Anthropologie are nicely worn in (but not worn out). The color is nice and neutral but interesting. The toggle makes for a cool detail. They'd look fantastic with jeans. And the price? I won't be buying them for myself, but maybe I'll put them on my Christmas list. And if I don't get them, I know what I'll be writing about next year!

HF Weekly Obsession(s): Head Case

I'm really very smitten with this vignette from the latest Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams catalog. I spied the Ming Console in a magazine last month and was very pleased to find I liked it as much in person as I did in print. The first one we put on our floor sold instantly! It's just the right amount of red for a pop of color in a neutral setting. We put ours with a dark brown velvet Kennedy sofa with red pillows. I rather like it!

I also adore it with the Kinsey Lounge that they used. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams uses a lot of tufting in their designs and they use it well. I'm a fan.

HF Weekly Obsession: Sitting Pretty

It's been a while since I've written one of these, but for this piece it is absolutely necessary. We just got the Remington Lounge Chair in Bevan Lilac on our floor and... wow. I really like it. Like, really like it. It's so pretty! I am a happy little blogger.

Remington Leather Lounge Chair in Bevan Lilac/Polished Nickel, $1879 @ High Fashion Home.
But... during their Undeniable Value sale (going through October 12th), this chair is $1504. Not bad, eh?

Hear Me Roar!

I've never been a big fan of animal prints, but when they're done in lively color, well, I can change my mind...

Agate-a-Ga-Ga

With the extreme heat of Houston summers, everything here is turning brown. I'm dying for a bit of color. That's why I'm so drawn to agate accessories. Aren't they gorgeous?

I love mint green. I brings to mind my favorite flavor of ice cream, Mint Chocolate Chip (from Blue Bell, of course!). Lately, I've been seeing some delicious, minty goods for sale...

Cha-Cha-Chartreuse

I suppose I'm slightly biased. I even like to say the word chartreuse. It rolls off the tongue so nicely. Chartreuse.

It's a good thing the color itself can back up all the hype I'm giving it. It's punchy yellow with an undertone of green. Sounds like a winning combination to me. Perhaps you should try some on this summer...

I like the unexpected pop of chartreuse behind the striped pillows. Loverly! Photo via Domino (r.i.p.).

I kind of want to buy this clock. I'm trying to resist the urge! Innermost Eclipse Clock, $184 @ High Fashion Home.

The company is my new obsession. There will be further posts on Casamidy, but for now, you can enjoy the Almidi Arch Table. It can be painted in any Benjamin Moore color!

I fell in love with this Rory Beca top that I found in Lucky. So swingy and airy for a summer night out.

I really wish I had a pair of chartreuse heels. It would perk up my outfits oh-so-much! Photo via Coco+Kelley.

This is NOT Your Church's Stained Glass

I've spotted a couple of cool, geometric stained glass inspirations lately that I thought I could share with you. What do you think? Tres chic or am I off my rocker?

I found this one in Lucky magazine. It's a surf shop in San Francisco called Mollusk (love the name, too). I love how the arches cut through the window panes. Very cool.

I found this one over at Coco+Kelley (love to read that blog!). The colors could go kinda 70's (not that that would be a bad thing), but the mostly white interior keeps it fresh and modern.

A Touch of Goth

I figure anytime a new Twilight trailer comes out, people will embrace their inner vampire and goth it up a bit. I'm liking the loads of black lace in fashion and design right now. It's just enough to make Edward Cullen do a double-take...

...Especially if you were sporting Stella McCartney like Liv Tyler at the Time 100 or Kate Bosworth at the Met Ball!

Now, that's what one would call "Sex on Legs". Lace Stilettos by Coppelia Pique.

Goth for beginners: Free People "Lacey Insert Blouse", $98 at 80's Purple.

Throw a midnight party with this as the centerpiece. Come Rain, Come Shine Chandelier in Black by Tord Boontje.

Chanel always nails the look... even for Spring.

Add a dash of goth to your packages with Lace Tape in black, $10 at Matter.

I Love the 80's: Neon

To kick off my homage to the resurgence of all things 80's (gasp!), I've collected a few neon treasures that I'd love to sport. I'm not going full on bright with an outfit of neon Units (oh, yeah! Remember those?!), but I could rock a neon necklace with a black dress. The 80's is back... take it in small doses.

Clockwise from top left: Tom Binns "Dumont Noir Fluorescent Earrings", $220; J. Crew "Neon Patent Capri Sandals" in Neon Orange, $39.50; Givenchy Necklace (coming to Macy's); Dannijo "Collage Ring" in Electric Pink, $190.

Hand-Crafted Cool

I'm in love...

With the arrival of Spring, we see the departure of the crisp, tailored looks of winter, and usher in a flowy, casual aesthetic. I'm loving the bohemian chic necklaces that embody that fancy-free look. They're all just a bit imperfect. They're easy to wear with boyfriend jeans and a white tee. They're so Marni Spring 2005. They're lovely.
"Electric Kool-aid Necklace" by Lizzie Fortunato Jewels, $422 via Charm & Chain.
"Handmade Felt Ball Necklace" by modernfiberlab, $58 via Etsy.
"Concertina Ribbon Necklace" in Teal by Flos ad Florem, about $490 via Kabiri

Oh-range!

I'm a big fan of orange. It's not as primary as red, and not nearly as feminine as pink. I think of it as a very guy-friendly pop of color, which is why it's showing up pretty regularly in my apartment. It's also a very fun color to wear since it gets noticed! Get citrus-ey this Spring!

From top left: Lanvin dress (I can't remember the publication from which this came! If anybody knows, leave a comment!); Dresses by Missoni (left) and Chloe (Right), photo from Harper's Bazaar; Rebecca Minkoff Neon Rendezvois Clutch in Neon Orange; Indention Vases at High Fashion Home; Astrid Chair from Anthropologie in Naive Tropical; Pebble Outdoor Pillow from West Elm in Rust.

La, La, La, Lavender!

I went shopping at the Houston Galleria last Sunday (and bumped into my sister-in-law and boss! Apparently it was a day to shop!). I noticed a very prominent theme. There was lavender everywhere! It wasn't a dull shade of mauve either- it was a beautiful, rosy shade of lilac. A shade that brightens up the skin from a long, dark winter and boosts you into summer. Paired with other bright shades, it loses the saccharin, and gains some sexy.

Twisted Puff Sleeve Shirt from Gap, $18; Dinah Sandals by Cynthia Vincent at Piperlime, $200; Python Clutch from J. Crew, $495; Maharajah Earrings by Dori Csengeri at Charm & Chain, $412; Carpathia Sky Wide-Leg Pants from Anthropologie, $50; Photo from Domino.

Even furniture manufacturers are jumping on the voilet bandwagon. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams introduced a rich shade in leather for this season. Imagine a classic leather wingback in purple! This is a trend I am loving!

I (Still) Love Lucite!

An Aitali chair from the pages of Metropolitan Home

Just to prove that lucite is in it for the longhaul, I've collected some inspirations as evidence. It's come a long way from little end tables. Add some fabric and you've got futuristic furniture with warmth. With the added benefit that lucite goes with everything!
At first glance, I wondered what was holding up these chairs! More from Met Home.

From Houston magazine, Lulu-fabric-covered chairs from Elloise Abbott.

Another Aitali chair- lots of options!

Mmmmmm...Missoni fabric on a Kartell chair. From House Beautiful.

COLOR! Part One!

Earlier, during the Spring Trends Overview, I brought up the fact that every color in the rainbow is the new black for Spring. Pantone (the masters of color) provides a guide to the colors of the season as seen at New York Fashion Week every season. The colors are truly across the board- nothing is left out. You see brights and you see pastels, but what you don't see is any one color taking the lead. I'm using the Pantone colors as a guide to show you the latest and most colorful fashion and interior trends of the season!

Overcast Dress, $128 and Viola Crackled Pot, $14. Both @ Anthropologie.

Dress by Versace and Surf Office Chair, $199 @ CB2

The new V-neck Cardigan, $44 @ Gap and Cortez Pillow, $25 @ Crate & Barrel

Top by Chloe and Leaf Print Wallpaper, $99/roll @ Brocade Home
